"Anni Novanta" (the ‘90s) collects numerous reflections on the creative and planning scene in the ‘90s regarding the visual arts, photography, fashion, publishing, and design, with special attention to Italy. Although there is currently no lack of information on artistic affairs and exhibitions from the late ‘80s to the early ‘90s, until now little attention has been paid to a broad and multidisciplinary perspective that analyzes the key moments of debate, dialog, and linguistic osmosis that marked emerging trends at the threshold of the 21st century. "Anni Novanta" gathers a series of essays regarding, on the one hand, contexts and trajectories of creative experimentation in areas such as new poetics of objects; installation, performance, and relational practices; videoart, photography, and fashion, and, on the other, important exhibitions and publications aimed at promoting the new Italian art scene, as well as convergences with exhibit design and contemporary visual communication.

“Skank Bloc Bologna: Alternative Art Spaces since 1977” reconstructs the history of non-profit exhibition spaces in Bologna since 1977. Whether initiatives by individual, cooperatives, or community centers, the spaces presented in the book have created a true “Bologna Model,” unique when compared with the situation in other Italian cities and with the international scene.
The book’s title refers to a 1978 song by the British post-punk group Scritti Politti, emblematic of the global perception of Bologna as a hotbed of political unrest and cultural innovation. The book describes numerous spaces, such as Traumfabrik, Cassero, neon, Link Project, and Campo delle Fragole.
The project won the 11th edition of the Italian Council Competition (2022), announced by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture.
