In 2020, Arte Fiera had one Main Section and three invitation-only curated sections. The Main Section ranged from Modern and Post-war Italian art (the Fair’s traditional strong points) to contemporary art research.
The photography section, with videos and completely renewed content, was once again curated by FANTOM, the platform developed in Milan and New York in 2009 and represented by Selva Barni, Ilaria Speri, Massimo Torrigiani and Francesco Zanot.
The other two special sections, both making their debut, were Pittura XXI and Focus. The first, curated by Davide Ferri, is a new format for fairs (and not only in Italy): a panorama of 21st century Italian and international painting in stands presenting only one or two artists. Focus, the second curated section, presents modern and post-war art in a historical context, and without previously defined content: the invited curator, different each year, chooses the period, trend, and artistic movement. The curator invited for the 2020 edition has been Laura Cherubini.
Arte Fiera 2020 involved 155 Italian and foreign galleries: 108 in the Main Section and 47 in the three curated and invitation-only sections, Photography and moving images (20 galleries) plus the debuts of Focus (8 galleries) and Pittura XXI (19 galleries), for a total of 345 artists at the fair.
