IPERCUBO nasce dall'urgenza di immaginare dimensioni alternative. L'ipercubo è una figura geometrica analoga al cubo ma immersa in uno spazio di quattro o più dimensioni: sebbene possa essere concettualizzato e descritto matematicamente, non può essere immaginato dalla mente umana poiché essa può solo pensare in una realtà tridimensionale. Vagamente correlato all'ipercubo è il concetto di iperoggetto sviluppato dal filosofo contemporaneo Timothy Morton. Gli iperoggetti non possono essere pienamente afferrati dalla mente umana perché la loro dimensione temporale e spaziale supera quella degli esseri umani, come ad esempio il riscaldamento globale, la razza, la classe, l'estinzione o un certo linguaggio.
